Inner Passages- Paul Robert Bryans & Lorence Bryans

Long time Salt Spring artist, Paul Robert Bryans and his son, Lorence Bryans are teaming up for this debut show of surreal paintings and digital art entitled “Inner Passages”.

As Paul describes his process: “Every journey of passage is unique. There are events and elements unfolding in the circle of time and space that interact and collide towards a common goal...change. We all experience change differently. The paintings of “Inner Passages” depicts the subliminal shedding of ancient icons, transition, moving forward, healing... something that we can all relate to differently”.

“The series began when I was commissioned to do the Passage painting with the theme of transition. The painting First Passage was the prototype for this larger commission and the rest of the series was born after the many months involved in the initial two pieces. Each painting in the series depicts an aspect of personal process, that I realized while painting, is universal and shared by many”.

Lorence Bryans shares “When my dad offered for me to be a part of his annual Easter show, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to showcase the photography and digital art that I have been working on for the past 3 years. What “Inner Passages” means to me is the stepping stone from absorbing to expressing, and the means to make concepts reality. It is the letting go of “what ifs” and embracing opportunities that live in the present moment”.

A wise man once said, “the old and the new merge in the sea of now” ....  Every journey of passage is unique and we invite you to share ours!
